The Connaught 2, an update on the original classic straight cap oxford now on last 379. Made from the finest black calf leather with a 'City' rubber sole.

The most easily recognizable of all classic styles, is the elegant English Oxford. A formal style that dates back over two hundred years, it is thought to have been named by the students at Oxford University, although it is almost certain that the style predates this ‘naming’ further still. The sequence of operations for constructing an Oxford differs to a Derby. The Inside and outside Quarters are stitched underneath the Vamp and the tongue is stitched in separately underneath the Quarters/Vamp/Facing. Often referred to as ‘Closed Lacing’

Last 379 is a Main Collection last with a classical round toe. Taking its toe shape (only) from the long appreciated 236 last, this updated version has been remodelled and reformed to produce an exceptional last for formal business Oxfords. The resulting last is a traditional and recognizable Crockett & Jones toe shape that has been blended with an excellent fitting and technically superior last throughout the joint, the cone, the waist and full back-part.

'City Rubber' soles are Made in England, by Harboro Rubber Co. offering the formality of a leather sole with the comfort, practicality and longevity of a rubber sole.
